Vaccine Storage & Handling and Administration - Session 4

Course Number EC2064

Originally aired on July 29, 2015, 12 noon. - 1pm Eastern.

CE for this course is available through August 31, 2015.

Moderator:

Dr Andrew Kroger, Communications and Education Branch, Immunization Services Division, NCIRD, CDC

Speakers and Topics:

Errata: In this program Dr. Kroger said "'Has the child had a health problem with asthma, lung disease, heart disease, kidney disease, metabolic disease, such as diabetes or a blood disorder?' Children with these conditions should not receive the live attenuated influenza vaccine, LAIV. They should receive an activated influenza vaccine only." Actually these conditions are precautions to influenza vaccine, so the correct statement should read "'Has the child had a health problem with asthma, lung disease, heart disease, kidney disease, metabolic disease, such as diabetes or a blood disorder?' Children with these conditions probably should not receive the live attenuated influenza vaccine, LAIV. This is a precaution and if both live and non-live influenza vaccine are available they should receive an inactivated influenza vaccine." The transcript has been corrected. Dr. Kroger regrets the error.

During the housekeeping portion of the program, Dr. Kroger announced two different dates for the follow-up Question and Answer session that corresponds to the July 29th program on Vaccine Storage and Handling and Vaccine Administration. The correct date and time for the follow-up Question and Answer session that corresponds to the July 29th program on Vaccine Storage and Handling and Vaccine Administration is August 6, 2015, at 10 am Eastern Time.
