In 2001, a combination vaccine containing hepatitis A vaccine
and hepatitis B vaccine was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in the United States (Twinrix, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline). Each dose contains a pediatric equivalent dose of hepatitis A vaccine (Havrix) and an adult equivalent dose of hepatitis B vaccine (Engerix-B).
