Increasing Adult Vaccination Rates What Works

Use a Systems Approach

Research has shown that just knowing the technical, scientific facts about vaccination is often not enough to improve vaccination rates. It is important to also focus on the organizational and administrative strategies for getting vaccines to the people who need them.

A systems approach just means deciding what you want to do, taking a look at what you are doing now, and deciding what changes are necessary. Factors to consider include personnel and job descriptions, the practice environment, barriers, and resources. Assessing your current vaccination rates and identifying who needs to be vaccinated is a good place to begin.
