2nd Annual Poster Session

With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Bar Association, the Board of the Public Health Law Association is pleased to present the 2nd Annual PHLA Public Health Law Poster Session.

Eleven abstracts were selected through a competitive peer-reviewed process and represent a broad range of topics, universities, and programs of study at the intersection of law, policy and public health. The topics selected range from the continuing lessons learned from SARS, to research ethics, to HIPAA to “snack” taxes. The student authors represent graduate programs in sociology, public health, medicine, law, and the Fulbright Scholar program. The interdisciplinary and diverse topics selected will be presented by their student authors as posters during the conference. The posters are on display throughout the conference and the authors will be present during the Tuesday, June 13th exhibit breaks at 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM to explain their research findings. An award for Best Poster will be presented at the reception held the evening of Tuesday, June 13th.

In addition to the student authors, PHLA thanks Martha Brocato, Susan Steeg, JD, the staff of CDC’s Public Health Law Program, and the membership of the American Bar Association for their contributions to the Poster Session. PHLA also thanks the universities and faculty providing guidance and support to the student authors.

On Behalf of the Board of the Public Health Law Association,

Jean O’Connor, JD, MPH
Poster Session Coordinator & Board Member
